In this guided whisky tasting in the bustling neighborhood of Shibuya, you can immerse yourself in the intricate and aromatic world of Japanese whisky, savoring diverse kinds and learning about their differences from a highly knowledgeable and experienced Japanese sommelier.
Your adventure starts at the meeting point near Shibuya Station, where your host will take you strolling through the bustling streets of one of Tokyo’s most famous neuralgic centers, renowned for its busy crossing and colorful neon-lit skyscrapers. After this introduction to the area, you’ll arrive at the tasting venue. Here, your host, an English-speaking Japanese sommelier, will provide an overview of the history of Japanese whisky before you enjoy a tasting session.
You will then taste five different kinds of whisky, each with its own unique and intriguing flavor profile, guided by the sommelier, who will share insights into the flavor profiles of each label. You’ll then savor each, appreciating the different flavor notes and aromas ranging from almond, chocolate, dried fruit and even fresh green apple. Between sips, feel free to exchange impressions and ask the sommelier questions. After the tasting session, you can buy your favorite bottles at an onsite shop with around 500 bottles (tax-free discounts are available for overseas visitors who present their foreign passports).
