Experience Details
While Kyoto doesn't usually rank among the first spots on most lists on ramen capitals of Japan, deliciously good ramen can be found here. In fact, though lesser known than that of other cities, Kyoto ramen is a household name in its own right, synonymous with the diversity and food culture of the region. Let a ramen expert fill you in on the details on this ramen tour of Kyoto, where you'll taste two distinct varieties — a classic, traditional Kyoto-style ramen and a more modern version, and find your new favorite.
But first, you'll get an overview of ramen history and culture upon meeting your host at a coffee shop near Kyoto Station. Your host will explain how important ramen is to Kyoto locals and share insights you might not know about Japan's most famous bowl of noodles.
Next, hit the historical streets of Kyoto to visit two ramen shops. You'll taste two small bowls of ramen (roughly half the size of an average, full-size bowl each). Indulge in the slurpy noodles and rich broth while comparing two kinds of ramen with your host.
