Experience Details
This cozy experience feels like stepping into a long-time friend’s home for a fun home party full of comforting food, good laughs and interesting conversation.
Aki, your local host, will introduce you to simple recipes that are at the heart of Japanese home cooking right at her home kitchen in Higashi-Koganei. First, you'll shop for ingredients at a local supermarket. Next, it'll be time to get cooking! While the exact menu contents are subject to change depending on seasonality and availability, you can expect to make four dishes: rolled sushi, a fried or grilled dish, vegetable side dishes, and, to wrap up, a classic dessert like mochi or another traditional Japanese sweet.
After you’ve spent about 90 minutes preparing the meal in the kitchen, it’ll be time to sit down and enjoy your delicious meal. Over your delicious homemade meal, deepen your understanding of Japanese culture and customs through interacting with Aki, a certified instructor with extensive international experience. An enthusiast for cultural exchange, travel and multicultural understanding, she strives to create a comfortable environment for all participants. This family-friendly experience is the perfect way to learn about what Japanese home cooking is all about, make friends, and learn a few new recipes along the way.
