Tempura is a deep-fried dish of battered vegetables or seafood (usually fish or shrimp). In this class, you'll learn from friendly host Max, a restaurant owner and Japanese food enthusiast who will teach you how to perfect your tempura-making skills to enjoy this comforting food anytime. Max's class is not just about cooking, it's about experiencing the full spectrum of Japanese cuisine. Participants of all ages and cooking skills are welcome in his spacious kitchen, with a great view of central Osaka. You'll learn to cook four dishes, including three types of tempura: shrimp, two types of seasonal vegetables, and kakiage. You'll complete your meal with miso soup, rice, a seasonal dessert, and green tea, which you'll enjoy in a cozy meal together while soaking in the views of the city. Max, your Japanese-American bilingual host, will guide you through your cooking efforts, ensuring you learn and have lots of fun! As a takoyaki restaurant owner whose family runs a tempura restaurant in Tokyo, he's your go-to person for all questions related to Japanese food. A proud resident of Osaka, he also enjoys sharing his recommendations and travel tips.
