Experience Details
Traditional Japanese meals usually consist of a soup, a rice bowl, a main dish, and two sides, a combination known as ichiju-sansai. This pattern creates a wholesome, healthy meal that is varied without being overly filling. In this home cooking class, you will learn to make a delicious vegetarian ichiju-sansai meal uniquely designed for you using seasonal ingredients. Tomokita, your host, will adapt to your dietary restrictions and preferences when crafting the menu for the experience so that you make a meal you'll love. You are bound to want to replicate her amazing recipes at home!
Having spent a decade in Thailand and five years in Mexico, Tomokita gathered from diverse influences to inspire her culinary expertise. With great attention to hygiene and an eye for detail and elegance, she strives to provide guests with the best hospitality in her Japanese home cooking classes.
First, she will meet you in front of a station close to her home, and take you on a leisurely walk through a nearby scenic and verdant area of Setagaya, so you can see the neighborhood and get to know each other (she usually takes guests through the Todoroki Valley, but because the valley is currently closed, she will take you to another beautiful garden). From there, you'll head to her traditional Japanese house, where you will experience an authentic, hands-on cooking class and learn recipes you can easily replicate later. After cooking and enjoying your delicious homemade meal with drinks, you will receive a special keepsake to take home.
