Teryori Kikuchi
The views and the food at this Shiogama hillside kaiseki restaurant are matched in beauty.
Restaurant Details
The owner of this Michelin-starred restaurant in Shiogama (Michelin Guide 2020) trained in Kyoto, working at a top traditional restaurant for years before striking out on his own. His own establishment is on a hillside with a great view of Shiogama and Shiogama Bay: the source of much of the seafood you’ll be eating.
There are just three private rooms available, with a choice between enjoying the stunning panoramic city views, or looking out onto the garden area. The meal itself is mostly assembled from seasonal wild vegetables and locally sourced seafood.
Each dish is presented on beautiful seasonal platters, the brightly colored vegetables and seafood popping against black lacquerware trays. As much a feast for the eyes as the stomach, this top restaurant can be counted among the best in Shiogama.
