Tan Tei
Okinawan dishes and ingredients melded with the kaiseki style of Kyoto, with fantastic results!
Restaurant Details
Located in Akasaka, Tan Tei is an Okinawan-style kaiseki which uses ingredients imported directly from those sun-soaked islands. You can enjoy the best of the vegetables, fish, Agu pork, and Ishigaki beef that the region has to offer. They even use earthenware pots made from the soil of Okinawa itself!
Much of the dishes are influenced by the courtly cuisine of the Ryukyu dynasty which once ruled the islands, explored through the lens of the kaiseki dining format (itself with its roots in the nobility of that city).
The setting is stylish yet sparse — a hidden away space to relax and escape from the city, with private rooms available for groups of up to twelve. You can choose from three different levels of kaiseki course to suit your budget, all of them packed with Okinawan ingredients which bring a taste of tropical islands life to Tokyo.
