Kappo Suzuki
Chef Suzuki is a master of great service, great seasonal dishes, and great seafood — come see for yourself at his sublime 2020. Michelin-rated kaiseki restaurant.
Restaurant Details
Suzuki is a cosy, tatami-floored hideaway in the Gakugei-Daigaku residential area, accessible in under 20 minutes from Shibuya. Take the trip down for a retreat from the city, and enjoy a delicious kaiseki meal using premium seasonal ingredients.
Owner Koji Suzuki started out as a sushi chef before teaching himself a wider range of culinary skills, so expect some fantastic seafood to feature. One signature dish is the abalone steamed with sake and served with liver sauce. Lily root and raw sea urchin soup is another.
Although the base ingredients might sound very traditionally Japanese, the chef also adds some Western ingredients to break from tradition and keep his diners guessing. A range of 5 different sakes is available, and cycles throughout the seasons to match the flavors of each time of the year.
It’s little wonder that Suzuki is enjoyed a Michelin star streak stretching all the way back to 2008.
