Sushi Sho Mutsuki
A high-end sushiya reachable in under an hour from Nagoya, where you can enjoy Michelin star quality for a lower price than in the city.
Restaurant Details
With fish sourced from Nagoya’s rich seafood markets, the chef at Mutsuki serves up some of the freshest sushi in Taketoyo. To pique your appetite, you’ll see all the fresh fish for the day laid out in glass-topped cases on the top of the 8-seat counter.
These are placed on top of rice seasoned with white or red vinegar, depending on the topping. The menu features a range of nigiri, from squid to eel and everything in between. Marinated and pickled varieties also appear. The size of the toppings are generous, with some laid out sideways across the rice, covering the entirety of the bed.
In the omakase meal, you’ll first enjoy some non-sushi appetizers — such as straw-smoked Spanish mackerel, or blue crab with Tosa vinegar — before the sushi is served.
Mutsuki is accessible in just 45 minutes from central Nagoya, the great benefit being that you’ll enjoy Michelin-starred sushi for a lower price than you would pay at a city center establishment.
