Fine kaiseki dining right in the heart of Hiroshima’s sake district, with a predictably great range of premium alcohols to sip on.

Restaurant Details

To say sake is a big deal in Hiroshima is an understatement. The city is home to one of the most prestigious brewing districts in all of Japan: Saijo. It’s here that the two Michelin star restaurant Ryoriya Sobiki does business.

It only took this restaurant one year after opening in 2017 to make it onto the pages of the Michelin Guide, due to their fine dining and — of course — excellent selection of sake. Alongside your traditional kaiseki meal, you can enjoy some locally-brewed varieties and premium bottles from around the country. If sake isn’t your thing, they also offer a good range of Japanese and European wines as well.

As for the dishes themselves, they are recognizably traditional, served in stunning ceramics, but often made with contemporary cooking techniques. The owner-chef makes use of fresh seasonal ingredients from around the country in preparing his multi-course seasonal Japanese feasts.

Only ten servings are plated up each day, split evenly across dinner and lunch, so be sure to reserve your spot early to avoid disappointment.
