Ramenya Mitsuba the Second
The thick, creamy broth of this Nara noodle shop sets a whole new standard for ramen.
Restaurant Details
A visit to Ikoma in Nara Prefecture isn't complete without a stop at the city's most famous ramen shop. Ramenya Mitsuba the Second is always jam-packed with ramen lovers and locals who are loyal to this store's delicious noodles.
The ramen noodles are made of 100% domestic wheat, and they're homemade, too. The texture and thickness complement the creamy soup of the ramen perfectly. Made with chicken broth combined with pork broth, the soup has a pleasant fatty content, cooked down for about 8 hours, creating the right density and thickness of soup that this ramen-ya is known for.
Every part of the ramen is well thought through — toppings are carefully presented and placed, as are the pork slices with finely ground pepper that gives an extra punch of flavor to the meat.
