Nikusho Gyuko Shinsaibashi
An exquisite yakiniku experience in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi that won’t end up breaking the bank.
Restaurant Details
Typically in Japan, yakiniku is something that’s a special occasion. It’s something only to be eaten once or twice a month at most for the majority of people.
While a yakiniku meal at Nikusho Gyuko — “nikusho” literally means “meat artisan” — in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district is no less special, guests don’t have to feel like they can only afford to eat yakiniku just once a month. Kuroge wagyu beef — meat from the Japanese Black cattle, the same cattle from which the famed Kobe beef is acquired — is offered for truly astounding prices at Nikusho Gyuko, with even its most expensive course menus not exceeding ¥8,000, even with all-you-can-drink plans attached.
But just because it’s affordable doesn’t mean it skimps out on quality. True to the restaurant’s name, Nikusho Gyuko is managed by a circle of “meat masters,” veteran butchers whose connections give them unrestricted access to the best meats from all over Japan. Miyazaki beef from the south of Kyushu, or Saga beef from the island’s northern slopes, or even Yonezawa beef from Yamagata Prefecture bordering the Sea of Japan. If it’s the highest quality, the meat masters at Nikusho Gyuko will seek it out and bring it back.
All this in a space that exudes pure class. Perfect for business meetings, celebrations or romantic dates, Nikusho Gyuko Shinsaibashi has classy, subdued lighting all throughout the restaurant, whether it’s at the restaurant’s table seating to accommodate larger parties, or intimate private rooms. It’s a dining experience that far exceeds its price point.
Maybe the best part is that the menu comes in a number of different languages, including English, Simplified Chinese and Korean. Visitors won’t have to worry about not being able to order more — and they certainly will want to, given the incredible quality and affordability.
Just five minutes from Shinsaibashi Station, Nikusho Gyuko Shinsaibashi finds itself in tough competition with the many excellent restaurants — not just yakiniku — in the vicinity. However, its incredible value proposition does more than enough to set itself apart.
