Liberty (Ribatei)
Authentic yakitori dining in suburban Yokohama will leave you smiling in total satisfaction.
Restaurant Details
Stray away from the tourist-heavy streets of Yokohama’s famous Chinatown and you’ll discover a range of great Japanese dining experiences.
This yakitori (grilled chicken) restaurant near Kannai Station dates back to the 1940s, now in the hands of its third-generation owner Tomotsugu Sakakibara. Here you’ll find authentic Japanese food with a true local feel; less glossy and polished than the downtown places.
Ribatei is a sacred spot for yakitori lovers around the country. They flock here to be served the best pieces of chicken, including the windpipe, gizzard, heart, neck, skin, breast — all served in an omakase set-course meal which just keeps coming until your time is finished (or you can't possibly eat any more).
Be sure to leave a little space so you can handle the curry powder fried rice — a house speciality served at the end of every meal.

Restaurant location
Nestled below the bustling city of Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture is as diverse in its environment as its food is delicious; Kanagawa offers Chinese street food and craft beer in Yokohama and fresh seafood from Kamakura and Enoshima, as well as natural beauty and mountainous produce in the hot spring town of Hakone near the base of Mount Fuji.
We strive to be as accurate as possible and keep up with the changing landscape of Japan’s food and travel industries. If you spot any inaccuracies, please send a report.
