Joe’s Kitchen
Fine Chinese dining from a veteran of the cuisine, with a focus on healthy, nourishing, flavorful cooking.
Restaurant Details
Although it might sound like a New York neighborhood deli, Joe’s Kitchen is actually a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in Nagoya. The owner-chef has over 40 years of experience, much of it spent studying Shanghai cuisine by working in the Chinatown district of Yokohama.
At his own corner-counter restaurant, he incorporates some elements from traditional Chinese medicine into the menu. This means a focus on healthy, all-natural ingredients which are as kind on the body as the palate.
Although the menu changes frequently, you can expect excellent dim sum dishes in the Cantonese style, great seafood like Shanghai crab, and wild game in the colder months. The seasoning is all mixed house, according to the chef’s own recipes.
Although they have a good variety of wines available at any one time, there’s no wine list to speak of. This is because they focus on seasonal varieties and limited editions. Nonetheless, you can always count on some great wine and sake pairings when you dine here.
