Chinese Restaurant Toh-Lee (Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba)
Cantonese cuisine gets taken to the next level on the second floor of the Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba.
Restaurant Details
It might sound strange to say that some of the finest Chinese cuisine can be found in Tokyo, but gourmets need to look no further than the Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba for proof.
One of the names synonymous with Cantonese cuisine in Japan, Chinese Restaurant Toh-Lee is driven by the concept of “explored and evolved” Cantonese culinary technique. Boasting an “insatiable” appetite to constantly improve the concept of their Cantonese cuisine, Toh-Lee’s menu is very much grounded in rock-solid foundations of Cantonese food, famously nourishing and soothing for both stomach and soul.
Some of the restaurant’s signatures are very much familiar to Cantonese food connoisseurs, like Shantung soup and mouth-meltingly tender braised pork ribs in black vinegar. But Toh-Lee isn’t afraid to experiment with classics to great effect: the restaurant’s vaunted XO sauce makes use of prized Jinhua ham in proportions that verge on excessive, infusing the mixture with a deep and salty porcine flavor that is simply unmatched.
The restaurant isn’t afraid to diverge from tradition in terms of its architecture either. Toh-Lee effortlessly fuses the modern and the traditional in its interior design, with watercolor artworks adorning the walls, alongside tasteful lacquer craft and latticework. Five private rooms, each smartly decorated, accommodate parties of all sizes.
A course that showcases the “explored and evolved” culinary philosophy of Toh-Lee, making use of an abundance of luxury ingredients like crab, shark fin, abalone and domestic wagyu beef.
