Enjoy extremely fresh wild game meat hunted by the restaurant owner herself!

Restaurant Details

What better way to enjoy game meat than served up by a renowned restaurateur who hunts for the ingredients herself? The restaurant “beet eat” is known for just that. A short walk from Kitami Station in Setagaya, this tiny restaurant offers an exclusive menu of specialty dishes that can only be found here.

Black bear briyani, squid curry, Hokkaido deer keema curry, and pork vindaloo are just a few of the many rare menu items at this restaurant. Sit at the counter and listen to a short story by owner-chef Kuniko Takebayashi herself, telling you about her hunting adventures.

Because each animal is hunted personally, every piece of meat is precious. Takebayashi prioritizes a no-waste ethos for her restaurant. She also takes pride in the natural essence of the meat, hence no additional flavorings are added to any of the dishes.

While hunting for game meat is a primary activity for “beet eat,” Takebayashi also puts in a conscious effort to abide by environmental-friendly rules, like using copper bullets. Not only are these less harmful for the environment, but the meat also isn't as affected by the impact as well.

Allowing you to connect with the source of your food in a way you’ve likely never done before, this is one of the most fascinating restaurants in Japan.
