Amber Palace
Experience fine Chinese dining at Amber Palace, a Michelin-starred restaurant which evokes the spirit of old Shanghai.
Restaurant Details
Amber Palace isn’t the only palace in the area — in fact, it sits just to the east of Tokyo’s Imperial Palace. It’s pretty much impossible for a restaurant to be more centrally located. From the 5th floor of the Palace Hotel, this Michelin-starred restaurant boasts lovely views and fantastic decor. You’ll feel like you’re in a classy Shanghai hotel in the early 20th century.
The dishes are equally transportive, with excellent Peking duck and dim sum. There are dedicated chefs for both the dim sum and the grilled dishes, all under the management of the head chef, who hails from Hong Kong.
This is a perfect place to try some premium Chinese delicacies, such as swallow’s nest soup, made with one of the most coveted and expensive ingredients in Asia, so it doesn’t come cheap. But, like all of the dishes on offer at Amber Palace, it will probably be one of the best pieces of authentic Chinese food you’ve ever tried.
