Aji Rakuzan
This Kyoto restaurant encompasses the truest essence that the ancient capital city can offer in its fresh, authentic dishes.
Restaurant Details
Tucked away in a narrow alley in the city of Kyoto is this authentic kappo restaurant that’s loved by many. Aji Rakuzan is famous for presenting the best of Kyoto, prepared with all the traditional Kyoto culinary traditions that one can possibly acquire. The chef-owner, Harada, has a knack when it comes to pairing the technique with the ingredient that’s the best for bringing out the umami factor.
The seasonal ingredients are caught by chef Harada himself — everything from wild ayu and sweetfish in the summer to ebi in winter. The dishes are extra special because of the exceptional effort the chef puts in.
Sit by the counter on the first floor to witness chef Harada hard at work, producing masterpiece after masterpiece in front of your very eyes. Alternatively, opt for the private rooms on the second floor, where you’ll have a classic Japanese dining experience on tatami mats.
