Experience Details
While it's true that one could spend a lifetime exploring Osaka to merely scratch the surface of all that the city has to offer, five hours walking with a local expert —visiting landmarks and enjoying flagship street foods —should paint a pretty good picture. In this walking tour, you'll explore Osaka with a local while nibbling on takoyaki and yakisoba and seeing some of the city's must-see sights.
You'll first stroll by the Osaka Castle, and from there, you'll visit Amerika-mura, a vibrant, young district with interesting street art and vintage clothing stores. Before you know it, you'll be in Shinsaibashi-suji, a covered shopping street that is one of the city's main retail areas.
Your food adventure begins in the famous district of Dotonbori, where you can find the Glico sign and the towering neon lights, two of the city's most predominant symbols. Stroll through a hard-to-find, narrow cobblestone alleyway with traditional lanterns that capture the atmosphere of old Japan. Then, you'll visit Hozen-ji Temple, a small Buddhist temple just off Dotonbori, where you can learn more about the city's traditional culture.
No visit to Osaka is complete without stopping by Kuromon Market, where fresh seafood has been sold, served and enjoyed for over 200 years. From there, you'll continue strolling through interesting roads to Nipponbashi Denden Town, Osaka's "electric town" teeming with electronics and pop culture, before concluding your tour at Shinsekai, a retro, pre-war district as nostalgic as it is picturesque.
A bilingual guide will lead the way, sharing stories on Osaka's history and culture, providing recommendations for your trip, and showing you the unmissable foods and sights of the city. Just bring your walking shoes, come with an empty stomach and get ready to discover Osaka through the eyes of a local in this unique tour!
