Experience Details
One of the world’s most famous fish markets, the Tsukiji Market area has remained popular even after the inner part of the market moved to Toyosu in 2018. Now a hub of seafood restaurants, food shops, and kitchen equipment businesses, the area keeps its solid reputation as one of Tokyo’s main culinary hubs.
In this private experience, you will tour the bustling Tsukiji Outer Market led by a knowledgeable guide in search of fresh ingredients for sushi. Your guide will lead you through the busy streets of colorful shops and teach you how tuna is sourced from across Japan while you handpick fresh ingredients for your lesson.
Next, you will take a short train ride to Heiwajima, a serene residential district of Tokyo. Here, you’ll transform the fresh ingredients you bought into fresh sushi pieces. Your host will teach you all the secrets of sushi making, including how to use sushi knives, filet different fish, and shape nigiri, and you’ll use a sharkskin grater to grate fresh wasabi. Lastly, you’ll enjoy your fresh sushi meal, but not before taking a few photos to commemorate the experience.
