Experience Details
Traditional Japanese culture meets ryotei-style fine dining in this exclusive dining experience with sumo and geisha in Tokyo’s historic Asakusa district.
You’ll feast on sumo wrestler’s staple meal (chanko nabe), a hearty chicken hot pot packed with protein, as well as a sukiyaki and tempura set made with only the finest A5-rank wagyu beef, while enjoying Japanese arts and sports with a free flow of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
First, you’ll enjoy a dance performance by geisha, who are known for their delicate elegance and impeccable hospitality.
Then, the graceful geisha stage will give way to a sumo ring where former wrestlers will engage in a thrilling bout. They will first demonstrate morning exercises (asa geiko), kimarite techniques and the do’s and don’ts of sumo wrestling before a best of 3 competition (tachiai.)
After the show, challenge the wrestlers to a match in the ring — if you dare! Put all the knowledge you just learned about sumo into practice by engaging in a real bout with former wrestlers (if there are too many applicants, challengers will be decided through a lottery system.)
Finally, take home a special souvenir as well as photos of you and your group with the sumo wrestlers and geisha, the perfect way to remember this unforgettable day.
