Experience Details
Experience Tokyo after dark with a food tour of Shimashi–one of the city’s most prominent business and “salaryman” districts! This all-inclusive experience will guide you through the Shimbashi backstreets, to a sacred Shinto shrine, 3 different Japanese restaurants and a sweet-tooth stop. The best part? This experience is FREE for kids (more on that later).
Shimbashi's history dates back to the 19th century when it was a crucial stop on Japan's first railway line, linking Tokyo and Yokohama. Today, it stands as a living testament to Tokyo's progress and serves as one of the busiest commercial “salaryman” districts in town–with the area housing some of the most prominent companies in Japan (Fujitsu, All Nippon Airways, Shiseido, and Softbank, to name a few). How is this information related to this experience, you ask? This presence of big-wig corporations and the area's vital business hub status means one thing: A whole lot of restaurants to feed all these busy workers, of course!
Join Adam and his team of superstar hosts for a true “salaryman” night out in Shimbashi. You’ll explore the areas backstreet, hidden alleyways, feast on Japanese food at 3 different restaurants, then end the night with dessert. Another notable stop on this after-dark adventure tour is Karasumori Shrine. The origins of this sacred Shinto shrine date back to the Heian period, in an area once known for its samurai residences.
Your Japanese food stops include sushi, yakiniku, and teppanyaki–but please note that the restaurants may change based on availability. Shimbashi is an area in Tokyo often overlooked by tourists, as its predominantly a business and commercial district; however, this area has so much to offer (with restaurants as far as the eye can see). So if you’re after a night out in Tokyo like the locals do, this is the experience for you! And if you’re coming with kids in tow, they can join you FREE of charge–specify how many upon booking, and we’ve got you covered.
