Join us for a virtual Japanese whisky drinking session! Our expert, who has inside knowledge from Yamazaki Distillery and various whisky bars across Tokyo, will share secrets of Japanese whisky and give tips on how best to enjoy it. With some background knowledge about Japanese whisky, your drinking experience will be even more meaningful.
You may be surprised to hear that Japanese whisky has a dedicated following in Japan, and has been recognized on the international level by the World Whiskies Awards. During this online whisky experience, we’ll delve into the complicated process of making world-class Japanese whisky.
First, your guide will explain the basics of whisky and its production process. Then, you’ll learn about the unique aspects of Japanese whisky in particular. After a fun quiz where you can prove your whisky expertise or learn something new, we’ll begin the whisky tasting experience, starting with learning the proper method of nosing.
While we’d love it if you can enjoy Japanese whisky during the experience, whatever whisky you have on hand is fine. Your guide is curious to know about the taste of whisky in your country and how you prefer to enjoy it!
As we sip our whisky, we’ll chat about the words used to express the taste and aroma of whisky, and try to describe our own whiskies in our own words. Lastly, you’ll learn how to make the classic Japanese “highball,” a simple cocktail of whisky with soda.
