Experience Details
The fragrant and sweet gokosui water that springs in the Fushimi district of Kyoto has been instrumental in establishing the area's reputation for high-quality sake. But even beyond Fushimi, Kyoto is dotted with countless traditional breweries, each proudly honing the long-established craft of sake-making. In this sake tasting in central Kyoto, you can enjoy an enchanting glimpse into Kyoto's long-established sake legacy and enjoy six varieties of sake paired with curated food pairings at a traditional restaurant with over 60 years of history.
The workshop begins with a welcome drink while Akane, your knowledgeable host, will introduce you to the world of sake, explaining the various flavors and intricacies of sake-making. You'll learn about the different brewing methods and how they influence the taste and quality of the sake.
You'll then taste six distinct types of sake, each carefully selected from local breweries in the Kansai area by Kikyo Sushi's owner. Each 50ml glass of sake will be paired with a carefully curated plate, designed to enhance the unique characteristics of the sake and the food and create a harmonious and delicious combination of flavors and textures.
This small group tasting provides the perfect setting to share your impressions with other participants as you taste each distinct sake. By the end of the workshop, you will have gained a deeper understanding of sake and an appreciation for the intricate and traditional brewing processes that make it possible.
