Experience Details
Just two stops from Shibuya, Sangenjaya’s streets are packed with charming retro cafes and restaurants. A tea area in Tokyo's Sendagaya district, Sangenjaya is the perfect place to enjoy a wagashi-making experience. Your host, Sakura, is a professionally trained instructor certified by the Wagashi Appreciation Society and Wahana Artfood Association. A former Japanese language teacher, Sakura is patient and professional, and she has shared her deep knowledge and appreciation of wagashi with hundreds of students!
Sakura will greet you at her cozy home with Choco, her helpful toy poodle assistant, and all the ingredients and tools needed to make nerikiri wagashi confectioneries!
Experience flow:
-Arrive at the venue and greet Sakura, your instructor
-Sakura will introduce the recipes and do a demonstration
-Make two pieces of wagashi confectioneries: first, you'll make the dough, and then shape it into a seasonal motif
-Take lots of photos and dig into your delicious treats with matcha green tea at Sakura's tatami tea room!
Whether this is your first introduction to wagashi or you're already a seasoned sweets maker, you'll learn a lot from Sakura's demonstrations. After your sweets are done, you'll photograph, plate, and enjoy the efforts of your hard work with a frothy matcha green tea served in her tatami tea room. You'll also take home a copy of the recipes so you can make these delicious treats again later!

Go directly to the instructor’s home, located a few minutes walk from Sangenjaya Station, or 15 minutes by train from Shibuya Station. More detailed information and a Google Maps link will be provided upon booking.
Remarks
Children over 4 years of age are welcome to participate.
The instructor’s house has stairs, so unfortunately this experience is not wheelchair accessible.
Please note that the host owns a dog. If you are not comfortable with dogs, please tell the host in advance. This experience is not recommended for those with dog allergies.
