Experience Details

Kaga is a region to the south of the Ishikawa Prefecture, just a short trip away from Kanazawa City, down along the coastline. Kaga is known for its exquisite cuisine and especially for its regional, seasonal produce of fruits and vegetables. With rice from the Kaga plains and pure waters running from Mount Hakusan, the local food here is incredible, not to mention the delicious premium sake! From a culture of artisanal cuisine, experience the taste of Kaga’s local food and book the Gourmet Food Tour in Kaga with Sake Brewery Visit. This is a private tour with a local guide, including a sake brewery visit with tastings and an exclusive Japanese lunch made with seasonal ingredients.

As the first step of this Gourmet Food Tour in Kaga, you’ll be met by a private car and driven to the city of Hakusan. With views of Mount Hakusan, in its shadows flow the pleasant Tedori River where delicious sake awaits! You’ll arrive at a famous sake maker, Yoshida Shuzo, which has had a legacy of brewing high-quality sake since the 1870s. During the private tour of the sake brewery, you can ask questions about the history of sake and the different varieties, the production process, drinking etiquette, and more. You’ll also indulge in a luxurious sake tasting while you’re here.

Next you’ll enjoy a sumptuous lunch at Tsuzura, an exclusive kaiseki restaurant in Komatsu, which was recognized by the Michelin Guide with 2 Michelin stars in 2016. On the menu is authentic Kaga-style cuisine made from local ingredients that are fresh, seasonal, and delicious. Satisfied by the local Kaga cuisine, this Gourmet Food Tour in Kaga with Sake Brewery Visit makes for a wonderful regional culinary experience, away from major cities in Japan (and closer to local sake).

Experience Location

Kaga City is in the south of Ishikawa Prefecture, but the greater Kaga area reaches along the coastline down from Kanazawa. It’s known for gorgeous scenery of both mountain ranges and sea, which contribute greatly to Kaga’s exceptional local cuisine. Pure waters run from Mount Hakusan, and quality regional produce grows in the rich soils of the Kaga plain. The Kaga region is also famous for its hot springs. Locally-produced ceramics called kutaniyaki can be seen at the handicraft village of Yunokuni no Mori in Komatsu City, while Natadera Temple in Komatsu is also a popular attraction.
