Explore the pristine coast of Fukuoka in northwestern Kyushu on this 45-km e-bike tour along gentle country roads & seaside bike paths in the quiet, unspoiled countryside of the Katsuura coast.
Your tour will start and end at JR Fukuma Station, just a 20-minute train ride north from Hakata Station in Fukuoka. Here, you'll meet your guide, David, an American who has made this area his home for over 25 years. His deep connection to the local culture and his love for food and cycling have inspired him to share the beauty of his home with visitors. He knows the area like the back of his hand and has designed this tour to include some of its hidden gems and foodie highlights, as well as allow for plenty of sightseeing.
Experience flow:
- Meet at JR Fukuma Station
- Go to David's home to prepare bikes and gear
- Ride to a historical site that used to host a sake brewery and tour inside for 15 minutes
- Ride through Tsuyazaki to the beach, cruising past sleepy fishing villages and rice fields and enjoying pristine views of the glittering sea
- Stop for snacks and drinks at a roadside market
- Continue cycling through small coastal towns and visit Toshimo Shrine
- Enjoy a sushi lunch at a sumptuous gourmet beachfront sushi bar
- Stop at a unique local coffee shop for dessert and coffee
- Continue along the coast to Miyajidake Shrine, where you'll tour the area and stroll along its beautiful gardens
- Return to JR Fukuma Station to end the tour
- (Optional, for an additional fee) Relax in David's garden, have dinner together and return to the station later
