Kankakei Ropeway Travel Guide
Kankakei Ropeway’s highlight is the Kankei Gorge, located at the heart of Shodoshima Island. The ropeway goes over the gorge, allowing visitors to view the uniquely shaped rocks and cliffs from above. Depending on the season, the color of the leaves change, as well. During autumn, taking the ropeway provides a marvelous view of the vibrant orange, yellow, and red trees in the area.
Once the cable car reaches the top, you’ll find different places to visit at the Sancho Summit Station. For the foodies, enjoy a delicious meal of specialty dishes such as Shodoshima Somen. There are various lookout points such as the Shibocho Observatory. A fun activity to do at these observatories is to throw Kawarake (ceramic plates) for good luck and prosperity. Hiking is also a popular activity to do as there are many walking trails to explore.
