Azabu Yukimura
Treat yourself to the very best: 3-star Japanese dishes made with centuries-old methods.
Restaurant Details
This purveyor of traditional Kyoto cuisine is a Tokyo institution: active for about 20 years. Located in Azabujuban, Yukimura is famous for its generous portion sizes and fantastic shabu shabu.
The owner, Yukimura-san, studied in Kyoto for two and a half decades. Using the skills he acquired, he now owns a portfolio of three restaurants, and can boast legions of fans the world over.
At his eponymous eatery, guests sit at a uniquely angled counter which offers an unbeatable view for every one of his diners. You’ll be glad of this when you see the master at work. Whether it’s juicy crab in winter, or matsutake mushrooms in summer, all of his grilled dishes are prepared with an authentic charcoal grill of the sort that could be found in the kitchens of centuries past.
For all these reasons and many more, Yukimura was awarded the coveted three star Michelin status (2020). If you’re lucky enough to land a reservation, it’ll be clear why from the second you step through the door.
