WITH THE STYLE Steakhouse Medium Rare
This teppanyaki destination in Hakata strikes a chord with Kyushu grilled fares and a dreamy setting that combines Fukuoka’s charm with upscale West Coast ease.
Restaurant Details
The experience begins well before guests enter the dining area: a tree-lined avenue where cars seldom pass leads to a sun-drenched courtyard studded with palm trees. The indoor space peers over the crystal-clear pond and lush greeneries, and a striking central counter anchors the scene. The whole setting evokes a suave West Coast atmosphere that rolls in with the breeze from the vast landscapes of Fukuoka.
Housed within Hakata’s WITH THE STYLE Hotel, Medium Rare Steak House is an enchanting teppanyaki institution that embodies elegant tranquility. This restaurant leaves a mark with its devotion to Kyushu-sourced ingredients, churned into exquisite iron-grilled dishes and steaks. Benefiting from the region’s volcanic soil and warm climate, the head chef personally visits local farms to carefully source the finest high-quality ingredients. The concept here is "local production for local consumption," where dishes are crafted from items grown and harvested in the same region where they are enjoyed.
The meal unfolds as a multi-sensory delight. The aroma of Japanese kuroge wagyu (black beef) and Kyushu-grown vegetables wafts through the air. Gleaming iron plates line the bar, where animated conversations mingle with the sizzle of proteins cooked right in front of them. The highly vaunted dish is the foie gras sushi: tender duck liver on top of rice, dressed with a sauce made from akazake — Kumamoto Prefecture’s red sake used in celebrations.
Diners can go the luxe ala carte route, but the clever choice is to indulge in the full spectrum of teppanyaki mastery through their tasting menu.
