Torishige
Witness the whole panorama of Japanese grilled delicacies at one of the capital's best traditional grill houses.
Restaurant Details
Plenty of restaurants in Tokyo specialize in grilled chicken or beef, but few offer the full range of Japanese grilled meat dishes that Torishige has on its menu. Here you can try beef, chicken, and pork dishes of such a high quality that the restaurant is consistently ranked among the best grill houses in the city.
They offer a range of price points for their set-course meals, making them one of the more accessible restaurants, perfect for any occasion. The third generation owner sets a jovial tone as he serves up classic delicacies like a layered tongue dish, using a cut from the base of the tongue which is incredibly fat with no muscle. The pork, chicken, and beef sashimi will not be to everyone’s taste, but adventurous diners will love the chance to try dishes which are totally unheard of anywhere outside of Japan.
Torishige was was already extremely popular among Shinjuku locals — but its being awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2024 has caused its popularity to skyrocket. To land a successful reservation, guests are recommended to try at least a week in advance.
