Who doesn’t like a good tempura restaurant? Tempura Tenko tops the ratings as the most highly regarded tempura restaurant in Fukuoka City, a claim easily backed up by its Michelin star. This tempura restaurant is owned by a talented chef that trained in Tokyo and specializes in Edomae tempura — rest assured he mastered the classic technique.
Freshly caught ingredients from local waters, like cod, are used in the dishes for a Fukuoka touch, while the common suspects like megochi and anago are from Tokyo. The flavors of Edomae tempura are even more powerful due to the technique used: bathed in a light coat of batter and then fried at high temperatures. In one of the three types of course meals offered there is a ginseng specialty dish that makes use of five-year-old ginseng to enhance the sweetness and aroma — definitely a dish not to miss out on.
Expect premium ingredients like abalone and kinmedai at the exquisite Tempura Tenko. Complement the various fragrances with a couple of glasses of locally produced sake. Affordable for what it is, luxury and all, Tempura Tenko is a must-visit for tempura enthusiasts.
