Tucked away in Ginza, this tiny tempura specialty restaurant offers delectable tempura seafood and vegetables in a sleek, refined setting.

Restaurant Details

From its booming popularity in the early 17th century as a quick, delicious snack sold out of yatai (street food stalls) in Edo, tempura is now enjoyed by the masses and considered an essential fixture in many Japanese restaurants. Since 2017, Tempura Obata has elevated the art and quality of tempura, wowing guests with its singular focus on seasonal tempura dishes.

Nestled in Ginza, Tokyo’s popular shopping district, Tempura Obata’s simple yet delicious fare of tempura seafood and vegetables attracts its fair share of regular customers. The chef’s pride and joy is the sea urchin tempura – crispy on the outside, and incredibly tender and juicy on the inside.

Tempura Obata provides a truly unique intimate atmosphere, with only a 5-seat counter and one private room for up to 4 guests, perfect for couples or small groups of friends.
