There are few, if any better value premium tempura meals in all of Japan. This basement tempura restaurant held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for six years.

Restaurant Details

Located right by Ginza Station in Tokyo’s central Ginza district, this tempura shop provides some of the best value tempura dining in the city. Forget fast food — guests looking for a quick and affordable meal can get a real, quality tempura lunch here for the same price as a meal at a burger joint.

As such, it's no surprise that Tempura Abe Honten held a Michelin Bib Gourmand award in the Michelin Guide Tokyo for a solid six years, for its excellent balance of price and performance.

No matter your budget, a trip here is time well spent. Tempura Abe's batter is perfectly crisp, without any excess oil. Premium seafood such as abalone also make regular appearances on the menu, and juicy prawns kept in tanks on the premises for maximum freshness.

There are only 16 seats at this incredible value-for-money Ginza restaurant, with the majority of them counter seating to give guests the most immediate view of the frying action. Seats fill up quick, so a reservation is almost required.
