Seiju
Try out the unconventional pairing of wine and tempura, then wonder why it hasn’t been done before!
Restaurant Details
Following a strict reservation-only policy, this tempura restaurant, which received a Michelin-star not so long ago, has achieved a lofty reputation. With visual nods to the traditional Japanese interior setting of a tea ceremony, Seiju brings in the truest charm of Japanese culture in their dining experience.
This restaurant dishes out a 13-plate course meal featuring various tempura cooked to perfection. Sealing in the juicy flavors of each ingredient, the crispy batter is delicate and light in flavor, fried in pure sesame oil.
Seasonal ingredients are used, and dishes cycle through varieties including cuttlefish, matsutake mushroom, crab with seaweed, kakiage, and eggplant — all prepared through various techniques that bring out the best flavors in every one of them.
The other point to note about Seiju is that — in addition to the usual offerings of beer or sake — they also offer wine! With over a hundred wines to choose from including premium bottles, you’ll be amazed at how well this unconventional combo goes together. There’s a solid chance that it might just ruin every other run-of-the-mill tempura restaurant for you when you experience the unconventional at Seiju.
