Saryo Miyasaka
A fully Japanese experience: sample some of Tokyo’s finest kaiseki dining in a teahouse atmosphere, with matcha tea to finish.
Restaurant Details
This stylish contemporary teahouse in Roppongi is the offspring of the 2 Michelin-starred Miyasaka, a traditional kaiseki restaurant in Omotesando. While its parent restaurant might be a little too formal for some, this outlet provides a window into that world of tradition and elegance, but in a more relaxed and accessible atmosphere.
The dimly lit interior provides a calming ambiance and an air of exclusivity. Take a seat at either the counter or a table and enjoy some top quality kaiseki dishes, such as a clay pot with seasonal ingredients, and sea bream on rice with golden dashi broth poured on top.
The fifth generation chef at the helm of Saryo Miyasaka was born in Fukuoka, where he worked in his family’s restaurant before training in Kyoto. The spirit of the Kyoto teahouses is in full flow here, and at the end of the meal, matcha tea is served alongside mochi sweets filled with seasonal nuts and fruits.
