Nihonryori Hanagiku
Traditional Japanese venue Nihonryori Hanagiku mirrors the grandeur of the historic Nara Hotel with a kaiseki journey through the area’s culinary heritage.
Restaurant Details
The century-old Nara Hotel epitomizes opulence. Built during the Meiji era by Kingo Tatsuno — designer of the emblematic Marunouchi building of Tokyo Station — to welcome dignitaries and royalty, the hotel’s walls have echoed the footsteps of luminaries like Einstein, Audrey Hepburn and Deng Xiaoping. Up on the fifth floor of the Nara Hotel's new wing, Nihonryori Hanagiku offers a traditional Japanese kaiseki experience worthy of its grandeur.
Nihonryori Hanagiku’s menu, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients, explores Nara's culinary heritage. Each dish showcases the region's bounty, from the Yamato chicken to the sweet, dried persimmons. It’s visible through the the offering of a three-tiered bento box of local flavors, and even more obvious in the multi-course kaiseki meal which provides a more in-depth tasting of Nara's gourmet offerings.
The hotel itself is perched on the gentle hillside overlooking the spectacular Nara Park. With panoramic views of Nara and the Yamato mountains, Nihonryori Hanagiku provides a serene backdrop for relaxed meals with friends, family or colleagues. Its convenient location within Nara Park allows you to easily reach Nara's cultural gems, from the ancient Todaiji Temple to Kasuga Grand Shrine.
