High on the 52nd floor of Park Hyatt Tokyo, New York Grill delivers high-rise, NYC-style dining through its steaks, live jazz music and panoramic views.

Restaurant Details

Park Hyatt Tokyo’s New York Grill has no shortage of thrills. Combining dramatic tall-to-ceiling windows overlooking panoramic Tokyo’s skyline, a grand interior featuring paintings by Italian artist Valerio Adami and the wine cellar housing 1,800-plus wine bottles, it’s probably one of the grandest restaurants in Tokyo — and, by extension, Japan.

Perched on the 52nd floor of the five-star hotel in Shinjuku, this steakhouse offers a heartfelt homage to the high-rise dining culture of New York City. Rather than seeking to provoke, it aims to please and reassure diners with its classic steakhouse and bar concept. And it certainly delivers on that promise.

A team of white-jacketed chefs orchestrate the menu from the open kitchen and work in a confident theme celebrating classic cooking. The emphasis is on American and Japanese ingredients, although beef is often the headline of the act, sourced from both Japan and imported. Signature dishes include flawlessly cooked scallops draped in lemon caper butter and parsley, as well as succulent king crab cakes served with a zesty remoulade. Meanwhile, steaks often feature premium cuts from regions like Hokkaido’s Akaushi sirloin or renowned Kobe wagyu, simply seasoned with a pinch of sea salt.

Ambiance plays just as big of a part in dining at New York Grill. In the evening, a live jazz quartet turns the atmosphere moody, while attentive waitstaff navigates elegantly between the impeccably dressed tables. This is a big-city restaurant with all the competence that the price tag implies, perfect for an excellent and timeless dining experience.

New York Grill is currently closed for renovations and will reopen in October 2025.
