Mont St. Clair
Get up bright and early to snag the most delicious sweet treats from one of Japan's top cake shops.
Restaurant Details
Owned by the award-winning patissier and chocolatier Hironobu Tsujiguchi, this Jiyugaoka shop needs no introduction among the sweet-tooths of Tokyo. Its reputation is outstanding among locals and foreigners alike.
This cake shop and tea salon is open until seven in the evening every day but don't expect all the goodies to still be available during the last few opening hours. In fact, the popular desserts get sold out in the first few hours of opening! Mont St. Clair's signature cakes include the namesake Mont St. Clair, which is made with hazelnut praline, almond, and coffee biscuit as well as the award-winning C'est la Vie which is a white chocolate mousse cake. Both are expected to sell out every morning, so you’ll have to be quick to snag one.
Not to fret, however. The other pastries at Mont St. Clair are just as delicious. The Kiyomi Orange Galette is a classic almond cream tart that's only offered when in season, so keep an eye out for this and other limited-edition offerings. No matter what you choose, it’s sure to be delicious, such is the quality on offer at this top Tokyo bakery.
