Mishima-tei
Take a trip through time into the Showa era while being treated to the finest sukiyaki in town at this long standing restaurant.
Restaurant Details
Tucked away on the corner of Sanjo and Teramachi Street, deep in the Sanjo Shopping Arcade, is a legendary sukiyaki shop that's been running since all the way back in 1873. Mishima-tei is the ultimate choice to try the most famous of all Japanese beef dishes: sukiyaki — thin slices of beef cooked in a broth of sake, soy sauce, and vinegar; and then dipped in raw egg.
With the restaurant located above a butchery, it's no surprise that every slice of beef served is of the highest, freshest quality they can get their hands on. Recognized by all of Kyoto as one of the best beef restaurants in town, the meat here is preserved and matured using their own signature method, which makes it so tender and rich in flavor. Beef marinated in miso (soy bean paste) and Shigureni (simmered beef in soy sauce) are also original dishes of Mishima-tei.
Choose between a tatami-mat-style private room or other traditional room, then sit back, relax, and be amazed by the sight and smell of premium meat cooking in a rich broth right before your eyes.
