Restaurant Details

This restaurant is located in the Ryogoku district of Tokyo — the center of sumo culture in Japan (and by extension, the world). In keeping with the culture of the area, they serve up chanko cuisine: the traditional fare which sumo coaches fed to their athletes to bulk them up to gigantic sizes.

This means the famous chanko nabe — a stew loaded with protein and vegetables — and fresh sashimi from Toyosu Market. The seafood chanko nabe is one of the best in town, filled with a sumo-friendly portion of prawn, squid, and fish. Pork lovers will want to try their Kagoshima pork shabu shabu too.

Located right next to Ryogoku Station, Ami Ryogoku offers an affordable and comfortable way to load up on delicious food like a sumo champion.
