Experience Details
Step into a world that retains the elegance of the Heian period in Uji, Southern Kyoto, then discover Fushimi's ancient sake heritage. In this tour, a trained guide will take you to explore these historical regions on a journey of food, drink and legends.
Your tour will begin by meeting your guide at Uji Station and walking to Byodo-in Temple, built over 1,000 years ago. The temple is surrounded by water, creating a breathtaking sight with vermilion buildings reflected on the surface. While approaching Byodo-in, you will enjoy your first sampling of matcha-powdered dango skewers. Uji is known for its tea production, particularly that of matcha, so this is a classic snack to enjoy.
Next, you will follow your guide to the Fushimi area, home to quaint roads gilded with history at every turn. You'll stop at a sake store to learn about and taste three local varieties of Japanese sake.
Your English-speaking guide will answer any questions about Kyoto and sake and assist you with any additional food or drink purchases you may make. The tour will end with your guide dropping you off at Kei-Han Fushimi-Momoyama Station or Kin-Tetsu Momoyama-Goryo Station to continue exploring Kyoto.
