Experience Details
Embark on a journey through the historical shopping district of Jujo. This experience invites you to unweave the rich tapestry of Tokyo's past, as you explore Jujo Fujimi Ginza shopping area and traverse the captivating Jujo Nakadori street.
Our adventure begins at the iconic JR Jujo Station–located in Tokyo’s Kita Ward, just north of Shinjuku–where you'll meet your guide and fellow adventurers. Wander through the charming Jujo Ginza shotengai (shopping street), which boasts a remarkable 82-year history. Its roots trace back to 1938 when the Merchant Association was founded, and it officially became a shopping arcade in 1977. Jujo Ginza shotengai is known for its affordable prices and vast range of shops offering everything from homemade sweets and street food to trendy fashion and retro goods. Savor delights like croquettes for 30 yen, yakitori for 50 yen, and even socks for just 50 yen!
Our journey continues as we move from Jujo Ginza shotengai towards the Jujo Fujimi Ginza shopping area. A leisurely walk brings us to the tranquil Shimizuzaka Park, where we’ll stop for a break. After we’re rested and ready, we'll stroll towards JR Akabane Station, a mere 15-minute walk away. Here, the history and legacy of Ota Dokan–a Japanese samurai lord, poet, and Buddhist monk–come alive at the Inatsuki Castle Ruins. Admire the remnants of this 15th-century castle while soaking in the views from an altitude of 21 meters above sea level.
As dusk descends, we’ll head to the Akabane Ichibangai area to explore the allure of "senbero," a famed local tradition allowing you to savor the delight of a hearty drink for just 1,000 yen.
