Experience Location
On the southern outskirts of Kyoto City lies Uji, a small but historic city known for traditional teahouses and temples, and for producing some of the highest quality green tea in Japan, called Uji-cha. Byodoin Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Tale of Genji Museum which celebrates the world’s first novel, are two major attractions in Uji. Another World Heritage Site, Ujigami Shrine, is one of the oldest Shinto Shrines, dating back to 1060, a testament to the city’s long history. The Uji River separates the city in two, a perfect site for fishing or a leisurely cruise.
