Experience Details
Like pubs and tapas bars, Japanese izakaya restaurants serve various small dishes and snacks to accompany alcoholic drinks. From tiny holes-in-the-walls to high-end establishments, Shinjuku is packed with izakaya that whet the appetites of salarymen, students, and travelers alike.
In this private 2-hour tour, English-speaking university students will be your guides into the world of izakaya, explaining the joys of pub culture and cuisine. Through the eyes of local students, you'll be introduced to an authentic side of Japan and bond over a shared love of food and drinks.
After meeting your guides outside Shinjuku Station, you'll navigate the urban sprawl of one of Tokyo's most emblematic neighborhoods to visit izakaya beloved by the locals. Indulge in standard izakaya dishes including edamame, yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), gyoza (fried dumplings), karaage (Japanese fried chicken), potato salad, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), and oshinko (pickled vegetables). Wash down your meal with alcoholic beverages like Japanese sake or ume liqueur and luxuriate in the cozy izakaya ambiance.
Receive unique insights from your friendly guide and spend a night like a true local, right at the heart of Shinjuku.
