Experience Details
The streets of Golden Gai are shrouded in magic, mystery and sheer fun. This Shinjuku area is famous for its narrow alleys filled with tiny bars, each unique in its backstory and offerings. This private daytime tour of Golden Gai will show the best of Shinjuku’s bar scene to give you the confidence to come back and explore during the night.
On most days the tour guide is Ryo, one of Golden Gai’s popular female bartenders. She will first take you exploring Hanazono Shrine, built in the 1500s, where you can experience the traditional side of Shinjuku.
She will take you on a walk through Golden Gai’s bar-lined streets, sharing the area's history and famous spots.
Next, you'll head to a private bar where you'll savor the unique flavors of rare Japanese whiskies. You'll be served hard-to-find varieties with hand-cut ice cubes and snack pairings. Between sips, enjoy a friendly banter with your bartender as you learn more about Japanese whiskies and local drinking culture. Lunch will be rice balls, tsumire soup and miso soup with chicken and vegetables.

Please note that the bartender does not speak English fluently but will have a co-host to assist with English-language interpreting.
