One of Kyoto’s most prominent sake brewing areas, Fushimi, located just south of Kyoto City, is a must-visit for sake enthusiasts and the sake-curious. Come along with your host Yoko for a fun-filled, educational (and boozy) day!
During this sake-centric food tour in Kyoto, you’ll visit Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum and learn how this marvelous beverage has been brewed for centuries, getting background into the history of Japanese rice wine. Then, learn about the styles of Japanese sake and enjoy tasting three kinds of sake. This tour also includes a stroll around Otesuji Shopping Street and Gokogu Shrine.
For lunch, you get to choose the food! Pick between sushi, tempura, ramen, yakitori, and more. Just let Yoko know your preferences and dietary restrictions in advance.
Starting in 2015, Yoko has hosted over 1,200 guests. Speaking three languages (Japanese, English, and Mandarin Chinese), Yoko is a nationally licensed tour guide and has taught Japanese cooking classes both in Japan and abroad (London and Dublin). She’s looking forward to sharing her love of Japanese food culture with you.
