Experience Details
On the lookout for lively bars, delicious booze, and an authentic nightlife experience in Tokyo? A seasoned and friendly local guide is all you need! Join this bar-hopping tour and explore one of the following areas: Ueno, Shinbashi, or Ikebukuro.
Follow your tour guide on a wild bar-hopping experience and dive deep into Japan’s bar scene. From standing bars to local watering holes, to streetside seating, and more, you’ll hit the most authentic izakaya gastropubs in Tokyo. Leave the beaten path and discover a whole new world of clinking glasses, flowing sake, and finger-licking good izakaya food.
The tour features 3 selected Japanese gastropubs, each with their own unique character. At each stop, you get to eat two side dishes and one drink, but sake enthusiasts can go vice-versa and have two drinks to one dish. Since the Tokyo bars we’ve chosen are authentic, hidden gastropubs that are not frequented by tourists, your menus will be in Japanese. But don’t worry as your guide will break through the language barrier and cover your back, ordering delicious snacks and appetizers on your behalf.
Try crunchy and savory karaage (fried chicken), seasonal goodies, pickles, potato-salad, juicy skewers, or unusual offal specialties. Either the fantastic food or the friendliness of smiling Japanese locals sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with you, or both, will take your heart.
Part with your guide at a nearby station and leave the tour with some new insights into Japanese nightlife and drinking culture!

Experience Location
Ueno is a popular hub of shopping, nature, and cultural institutions. Ueno Park is home to Ueno Zoo and is surrounded by big-name art galleries and museums, and Ameya Yokocho, an outdoor market. Shinbashi teems with cheap restaurants and izakayas that draw in crowds of off-hours salarymen and women, keen to loosen their ties, let down their hair, and enjoy a cold beer or three. Ikebukuro is the second busiest station in Tokyo, surrounded by hundreds of shops, bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. It is home a rooftop aquarium and other attractions of Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City.
